Meditation Monday: All things

"I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me" ~ Philippians 4:13

This verse is on a sticky on my dry-erase board.

I've memorized it.

Because in the grit of life, when all that stuff comes and slaps you in the face, it's hard to remember.

We can do all things through Christ.

Not some things. Not a few things. All things.

Everything God wants us to do, He'll give us the strength to get it done.

Last week I wrote something really similar to this, but it bears repeating.

Witnessing to your classmate? God strengthens you.

Staying in your marriage when your husband thinks the floor is his hamper? God strengthens you.

Reading your Bible even though it's already 10:45 p.m. and you still have a test to study for? God strengthens you.

Loving your coworker when she just cut you off in the parking lot, and then blamed you that her project isn't done? God strengthens you.

Accepting the call God has for you, even though it means getting out of your comfort zone? God strengthens you.

Declaring the truth in love, even though you're scared of the backlash? God strengthens you.

Of course, all of this is easier said than done. It's so easy for me to tell you all of this. And I can promise you, it's not going to be easy to follow through. It'll be down-right frightening and difficult.

But that's okay. God never promised us following Him would be easy. He never promised doing the right thing would be easy. But He does give us the strength we need. We can do all things through Him.
